What does Brexit mean for your labels?

In short, nothing changes in how your label requirements work or service

The UK has left the European Union and is currently in a transition phase until the end of 2020, while negotiations on final future trade relations are taking place.

The current UK, EU trade, travel and business rules will continue to apply during the transition period.

New rules take effect on the 1stst January 2021, unless an extension has been negotiated.

We have contingent liabilities

In preparation for Britain's exit from the EU, we have drawn up a series of contingency plans, including a significant increase in all stocks of component materials, so that we are prepared for all scenarios, including a possible exit from the "no deal".

We are pleased that these contingent liabilities were not required. However, the UK is still in a transition phase and the final future trade relationship is unclear.

There are many potential negotiation outcomes, including "no deal", so we will remain vigilant.

To ensure that we can respond to any outcome, we remain flexible and will continue to closely monitor trade negotiations.

We have dedicated employees who support you

We recently completed a strategic recruitment plan to strengthen and expand our customer support team and to ensure that we can cover all future trading scenarios.

This ensures that we are in the best possible position to meet all of our customers' needs and to cope with an increased administration that may arise due to a non-agreed future trade agreement.

CILS International is already registered under the EORI system (GB 435 9715 25 000) For exporters and as such, we do not believe that certification changes to our products will be required if the final trading result means that our products are treated as exports from the UK to the EU.

Our systems have been updated

We have worked closely with our logistics partners UPS for many years.

As part of our preparations, in the event that no future trade agreement is agreed, we have updated our European shipping / billing systems to adapt every European shipment to our current international exports. Not to mention that the majority of our goods are shipped to the EU by air and we would therefore not expect any delays in the ferry ports.

We are determined to invest in label research, development and innovation to achieve our exciting business goals in our industry.

As you may have read in our previous blog "Closer to our customers“As part of our European strategy, we have invested in two new office locations in Paris and Frankfurt. This will allow us to provide a new level of local support in Europe.

We are prepared for future trade relations with the EU and do not currently see any circumstances that impair our ability to continue to provide excellent service to our customers.
