Sony PS5 product page goes live, price and pre-orders may be imminent

The product page for the Sony PS5 console was released on Amazon. Rumor has it that Sony will open the pre-order process before the release date later this year.

On Monday around 8:30 p.m. UK time (around 3:30 p.m. ET) Amazon site for the new PlayStation 5 appeared online, but there is still no way to pre-order the console.

This should not be the case for long, as speculation suggests that Sony could finally announce the price of the next generation gaming machine before an expected release date for Christmas.

Sony plans to give expectant gamers the option to reserve their consoles about four months in advance. The well-known Twitter leaker @ IronManPS5 suggested that pre-orders would start on Monday, but not yet.

Industry watchers Roberto Serrano shows important developments even today, as product pages go online worldwide. He had predicted that the pre-order pages would appear at 3:30 p.m. ET today. That hasn't happened yet, but we're updating the Amazon page as we speak. He has since made it clear that plans can always change, as they did for Sony during this process.

The PS5 price is expected to trigger serious backlash among players. So this will be the key element of information that we can see today. In a few quarters, Sony may charge $ 599 for the PS5 with the 4K Blu-ray optical drive, while the fully digital edition will be a little cheaper.

The starting price is often a good indicator of a successful start. Sony was never wrapped up after the Xbox One price was undercut. However, PS4's dominance in this era was largely due to a much better selection of exclusive games throughout the generation.
