Prysmian sets new sustainability goals – reNews

The Italian cabling company Prysmian Group has set new medium-term sustainability targets for 2022 in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The company said it is constantly expanding its technology offering to support the energy transition and is committed to increasing the percentage of its sales of low-carbon products to 50% by 2022.

Prysmian is also committed to decarbonization and circular economy of its production and processes, with a commitment for 2022 to reduce its CO2 emissions by 2-3% and its energy consumption by 3% while increasing the percentage of its recycled waste to 66% increase .

In addition, the proportion of women in management positions is increased to 18% and that of women to 40%.

The company will increase the indices that measure employee engagement in corporate life and promote a culture of maximum awareness of safety in work environments.

Valerio Battista, CEO of the Prysmian Group, said: “As a public company, it is really fundamental to reconcile the interests of all of our stakeholders.

“The energy transition is also our core business and main growth driver. Our strategy has always focused on innovation, product development and competitiveness: We invest over 100 million euros in research and development every year. "

Prysmian has also introduced a new remuneration policy that combines reward payments with the achievement of short and long-term sustainability goals in order to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into its business strategies.

A new sustainability committee was set up within the board of directors.

The committee is chaired by board member Monica de Virgiliis, the other members are Mimi Kung and Maria Letizia Mariani.

The Board of Directors has approved the Sustainability Report – Disclosure of Non-Financial Information for 2019.

The overall economic value was € 11,653 million. The total CO2 emissions amounted to around 890,000 tons and the energy consumption to around 10,000,000 gigajoules.
