British Rowing recommends that permanent sit and gig rowing clubs apply the guidance set out in the Coronavirus Advice – Return to Rowing document. As with all clubs, the advice should be used to prepare an appropriate risk assessment for the local environment in which the club operates.

Clubs should plan their return to rowing in team boats according to the following schedule:

Timed coordination Allowed boats
Phase D. from August 1st No boats with more than two rowers, no steering boats
Phase E. from August 15th No boats with more than five people
Phase F. from August 29th All boats allowed
Phase D.
Timed coordination:
from August 1st
Allowed boats:
No boats with more than two rowers, no steering boats
Phase E.
Timed coordination:
from August 15th
Allowed boats:
No boats with more than five people
Phase F.
Timed coordination:

Special considerations for tight fit boats are:

  • Whenever possible, keep at least two meters between people. If this is not possible when starting / lifting, corrective action should be taken, e.g. B. wearing face coverings.
  • In the boat, individuals should keep the greatest possible distance and avoid face-to-face contact as much as possible, e.g. Avoid turning to speak to a crew member or stopping for long periods.

The next iteration of the UK Rowing Document, Returning to Rowing, will be updated to reflect the guidance above for seated rowing.
