A Barnard Castle-based laboratory has offered Dominic Cummings a coronavirus antibody test – and the Downing Street advisor doesn't even have to make a return trip.
The Honeyman Group said today that it is ready to send Cummings a coronavirus antibody test that will take 24 hours to test a blood sample for signs of Covid-19 antibodies.

Cummings, Boris Johnson's right hand, is said to have made a 200-mile round trip to County Durham during the ban.
The trip caused a sensation, but the prime minister refused to fire his chief adviser. Cummings said the trip was necessary to find childcare after his wife contracted the virus shortly before him.
During his stay in Durham, Cummings again seemed to violate the restrictions on visiting Barnard Castle – a 25-mile trip he thought was necessary to test his eyesight – before returning to London in April.
"We will be happy to extend the offering of a test to Dominic Cummings," said Honeyman MD Tom Honeyman.
“The process is to have an employer or one of our clinical partners' occupational health team organize a blood sample and send it to our Barnard Castle laboratory for serology. We return the results within 24 hours. "
Honeyman has partnered with the Scottish science company Quotient to create the antibody test based on Quotient's MosaiQ platform.
The test is said to test for two types of coronavirus antibodies as early as seven days after infection, Honeyman said.
The company cited research that shows that not everyone develops an antibody called IgG that existing tests have tested for. Honeyman's coronavirus test also looks for an IgM antibody response using Quotient's MosaiQ technology.
"In conjunction with our PCR test service, this systematic approach is very popular with companies responsible for managing large employees," said MD Tom Honeyman.

According to Honeyman, its rapid test method makes it the only laboratory in the UK and Ireland that turns samples in less than 24 hours after collection.
"Antibody testing – the ability to quickly test whether people have developed antibodies to Covid-19 – is critical to helping Britain get out of a standstill, get the economy going again, and keep fighting this pandemic," added Franz Walt, managing director of Quotient.
